The Narym Pony is an ancient breed originating from the Narym region in Western Siberia. It was developed by local populations to adapt to extreme climatic conditions and marshy terrain. The breed is the result of natural selection and crossbreeding with local horses, without significant influence from foreign breeds. It is officially recognized in Russia as a local breed.

Conformation and physique

It is a medium-sized pony, compact and robust, with a solid bone structure and well-developed musculature. It exhibits a typical silhouette of hardy breeds, adapted for survival in harsh environments.

The head is medium-sized, often a little coarse, with a straight or slightly convex profile. The eyes are expressive and the ears are medium-sized.
